| Mark Lezama

IRVINE, Calif., April 1, 2024 – Knobbe Martens is pleased to announce that litigation partner Mark Lezama has been recognized by Profiles in Diversity Journal in the publication’s Latino Leadership Awards.

According to Profiles in Diversity Journal, those who receive this recognition “exemplify talent, dedication to excellence, a commitment to mentorship and community support, and a passion for making a difference.”

In his interview with the publication, Mr. Lezama discussed how his lifelong dedication to learning and teaching has served him in his legal practice, community engagement, and parenthood. Speaking to his experience as a first-generation attorney, Mr. Lezama said, “Even though the legal profession was uncharted territory for my family, I never doubted my passion for learning and teaching would continue to carry me.

Mr. Lezama also described how his natural curiosity aids him in helping clients protect and defend their technology: “Whether it’s quantum computing, optics, or audio signal processing, I study the underlying technology, mastering the critical points as well as any expert in the field.” This allows him to present “the facts that make the best legal case for my client while also bringing out the larger themes that will resonate with a jury.”

Mr. Lezama co-chairs the firm’s copyright litigation practice and has experience both enforcing and defending against patents in jurisdictions across the country. With a background in mathematics and computer science, he takes on cases spanning a wide variety of technologies.  Mr. Lezama currently serves as a Representative of the Central District of California to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference, as well as President of the Orange County Coalition for Diversity in the Law.
